What is trauma?

Trauma is often misunderstood as only being a single, overwhelming event. In reality, it is any experience that was 'too much, too fast, or too soon' for your system to process. It is a natural response to extraordinary circumstances.

The way we experience life is deeply individual; no external rule defines what qualifies as a traumatic impact. Two people may encounter the same situation yet process and carry it in entirely unique ways. Your personal lived experience and how you feel today is what matters.

What it means to be trauma-informed

In everyday language, being trauma-informed means I recognize that your current challenges often stem from how you've learned to survive the past.

It's never about what’s 'wrong' with you, but understanding what has happened to you and how your system has adapted to stay safe.

Neuroscience shows us that trauma isn't just a memory; it's held in the body and the nervous system. When we experience overwhelm, our 'survival brain' takes over.

In our work, we look at these brain-body responses to help you move from a state of constant high-alert or shutdown back into a place of connection and calm.

Sessions with me feel collaborative and paced. We don't just talk about the 'why'; we work with the 'how'—how you feel in the moment, how your body resonates, and how to gently expand your capacity for joy and presence without re-traumatising your system.

The benefits are profound: reduced anxiety, a clearer sense of self, and the ability to navigate life transitions with resilience.

By working with your nervous system rather than against it, you can finally find the relief and growth you've been seeking.

Potential outcomes of our work together

Healing complex trauma

Work with a nervous system-aware framework to process past experiences safely.  We focus on building your 'window of tolerance,' ensuring you feel stable and in control as we bridge the gap between brain and body responses.

Managing anxiety

Understand the 'survival brain' at the root of your anxiety.  Informed by neuroscience, we identify how your body signals perceived threats and develop compassionate strategies to soothe your physiological responses in everyday life.

Navigating transitions

Whether it’s a career shift or a personal change, I provide a space that respects your unique life path.  Sessions are supportive and warm, designed to provide clarity while addressing the underlying neurobiology of change.

If you're ready to explore how this approach can transform your experience, I invite you to reach out for a gentle conversation.
